What Am Looking At? an introduction to the emergency broadcast system

Dear Creature,

thank you for navigating your internet browser of choice to this Blog.

Some people use Firefox as their web browser, some people don’t. It really doesn’t matter. Some people still use internet explorer.

The Emergency Blog System and its contributers welcomes you all equally. Chances are if you are here that you already know what the emergency blog system is and are fully aware of its function. but then again you might not.

If the latter is true then listen up-

The Emergency Blog System is a web-log in service to the Emergency Broadcast System

The emergency broadcast system was set up during the cold war as an automatic advice service that would take over all public airways (telelvisual or radio) in the event of a nuclear warheads sitting a-top  rockets hurtling towards Britain’s cities.

Luckily this never occurred and the broadcast system was never used. That is until now, in the late 90’s the system was abandoned completely, the MOD released a statement saying that if something did go wrong they’d probably just send a text or something rather than disturb everybody watching TV. ‘you’ll be dead anyway.’ A spokesman said.

All remaining equipment from the system that could not be sold was stored (arbitrarily)  in the sound room at UCA Canterbury.

Now in the late 2000’s the equipment has been dusted off to provide you with the all new EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM which is delivered to the listener in the form of a podcast.

Its content is now mostly just some chats and thoughts and readings and music and interviews: Things of an all-together-less solemn nature than instructional dialogues on building a fall-out shelter.

The first podcast from the new broadcast system is currently being made and it will emerge from the birth canal of iTunes some time in january or february. Most animals have a much longer gestation period than that, so when you listen to it, have pity.

the podcast will be available from here and iTunes when its ready, stay tuned for more information from the authorities as it arrives.
